Does Alert1 offer medical alarm service in my area?

Yes! Alert1 provides service nationwide.

 

What do I need to prepare to order service?

Ordering the Alert1 medical alarm service only takes about 10 minutes. You will need:

  • The name, address, and phone number of the person to be protected
  • The names of 2 to 3 people whom Alert1 will call in an emergency—this may include neighbors or nearby relatives
  • A form of payment (credit card or other approved form)
  • Optionally, you can also provide a Notify List—these are people who may not be able to provide help but whom Alert1 will contact after help has been dispatched

That's it. We will obtain the numbers of your local emergency or 911 services for use during medical alerts.

 

How do I sign up for the Alert1 medical alarm service?

Call our toll-free number: 1-866-581-4540. Knowledgeable and helpful Alert1 representatives are available to answer any questions you may have and to explain what you should know about our service. Our hours are:

  • Monday through Friday, 8am-10pm ET
  • Saturday, 9:30am-6pm ET
 

What payment options are available?

Alert1 accepts credit cards and checks through automatic withdrawal (ACH). Monthly, quarterly, and annual payment options are available for your convenience.

 

How quickly can I obtain service?

Alert1 will ship your medical alarm system the same day if your order is received by 3pm ET. All systems are shipped using UPS. Ask your representative about other shipping options available.

 

Who installs the Alert1 medical alarm system?

Alert1 medical alarm systems are easy to use and easy to install. No complicated procedures or specialized tools are needed. We will ship the medical alarm system to you via UPS. Once you receive it, simply plug the base unit into an electrical outlet and a telephone jack. Other companies may charge you a substantial installation fee to plug in their system, but it is often unnecessary. If you do require installation assistance, we're here to help. Just call us at 1-866-581-4540 and we will walk you through the process over the phone or help you find a certified installer in your area.

 

Can more than one person be protected at a single location?

Yes. A second person can be covered for no additional service costs.

 

What types of personal help buttons are available?

The personal help button is available in pendant and wristband styles. Simply tell us which one you'd like when ordering. We also offer an exclusive room and hallway button—perfect if you are worried that you or your loved one may not always wear the personal help button.

 

Who provides maintenance and is there a cost?

Alert1 is responsible for all service and repair of faulty equipment, as well as battery replacements. There is no extra cost for this. The base unit and wearable personal help buttons carry a complete lifetime replacement warranty.

 

How will emergency medical personnel access my home if the door is locked?

Alert1 offers an external key box that holds a key to your door. This secure box attaches easily to your home. In the event of an emergency, local emergency medical personnel are given the combination to the key box so that they can quickly get a key to your home. Family and friends can also use the key box to get a key to your home when necessary. There is a one-time fee for the purchase of the key box.

 

What if I move? Can the Alert1 medical alarm system go with me?

Yes. You can easily take the system with you, whether you move permanently or simply between multiple residences. The Alert1 medical alarm system is very easy to unplug and reinstall. Simply notify us of your current location. You can change your information anytime and as many times as needed at no charge.

This is not recommended for changes of less than 2 weeks.

 

Can information be changed after an Alert1 medical alarm system is ordered?

Yes. Information can be changed anytime and as many times as needed at no charge.

 

What if I have VOIP (voice over IP) for my phone service?

Medical alarm systems may not work with VOIP telephone service. VOIP is often unreliable and could result in the loss of an alarm signal. For this reason, Alert1 does not offer service to customer residences that have VOIP service only and no tradition analog phone lines.

Common issues with VOIP:

  • An alarm system is designed to send its signals over an analog (standard) phone line. To transmit emergency signals properly using VOIP (broadband), the signal must be converted. It is during this conversion that problems develop. Signals can arrive at the medical alarm monitoring station with errors—or not at all
  • A medical alarm typically comes equipped with a back-up power supply so that it continues to function in the event of a power failure. Because traditional phone lines still work even during a power failure, the medical alarm monitoring station can still receive the proper signals if the button is pressed for help. The back-up battery usually operates for about 24 hours. With VOIP, phone service will not operate during a power failure, preventing any kind of signal transmission from your medical alarm to the medical alarm monitoring station
  • VOIP services tend to be more prone to technical issues and dropped calls. Your medical alarm system may be communicating vital information to the monitoring station at the time when a call is dropped. Also, the alarm signal may go through to the monitoring station without a problem on one attempt, but fail on another attempt for no reason
 

What if I have DSL internet service?

It is important that you notify your Alert1 representative if you have DSL. We will provide a DSL filter at no charge.

 

What is your refund and cancellation policy?

We have a simple refund and cancellation policy. You may cancel at any time simply by returning all equipment to us. We will discontinue your service on the day we receive the equipment and will refund any unused months in full. There's no termination fee.

 

What if I pay for a quarter and return equipment prior to period end?

You will receive a refund for the months you did not use. It's really that simple! No other medical alarm service provider makes it that easy. Instructions for cancelling service are provided with your order. If you have any questions, call us at 1-866-581-4540.

 

How does the 30-day risk-free trial work?

If you decide within 30 days of your order that you wish to cancel service, call and notify us. We will arrange for the return of the equipment. You will receive a 100% refund, less any expedited shipping charges (expedited shipping includes the two-day, overnight, and Saturday delivery options).
